Local experience

Our electrical work in Kilburn

Kilburn Park Road is the street we visit most in NW6, with around 20 visits to its converted houses and flats, including basement and raised ground floor flats. We also work regularly on Kilburn High Road, Greville Place, Belsize Road, Malvern Road, Cambridge Road and Cambridge Avenue, Albert Road, Stafford Road, Torbay Road, Plympton Avenue and Maygrove Road, and in Brondesbury and along Willesden Lane.

Inspection work is a big part of it: around a dozen EICRs, many for landlords and letting agents, often followed by remedials such as consumer unit replacements, seven RCBOs on one board and missing earth conductors put right. Around 11 visits were fault call-outs: tripping circuits, power restored after a leak and an evening call-out for a cable drilled through in a wall. Around a dozen were lighting jobs, including replacing 37 downlights in one Maygrove Road flat and 22 in a Kilburn Park Road flat.

We have also fitted extractor fans, cookers and hobs, smoke alarms and switches, carried out a communal-board EICR in a block on Hemstal Road and worked for businesses on Kilburn High Road. Customers come back: Torbay Road, Cambridge Road, Maygrove Road (on the West Hampstead side of NW6) and Albert Road homes have each booked us three times.

Planning your electrical work

Repair or extend the electrics in your Kilburn property

For a socket that has stopped working, tell us whether other sockets on the same floor are affected and whether a protective device has tripped. Avoid using equipment showing heat damage, and call to discuss a fault that needs urgent attention.

If you are changing a kitchen or adding appliances, send the proposed layout and appliance ratings. Existing wiring can only be reused where it is suitable and testing supports doing so. A new point is not automatically a simple extension: the circuit's condition and capacity must be assessed.

Local knowledge

Kilburn homes and what they mean for your electrics

Kilburn sits either side of Kilburn High Road, the old Edgware Road (A5), with the London Borough of Camden to the east and Brent to the west. Much of the housing is Victorian and Edwardian terraces, many now split into flats, alongside mansion blocks and post-war estates such as South Kilburn. Our registered address is in W9, around a mile away, so NW6 is a short trip for us.

Converted flats

In a converted house, each flat's meter and main switch are often in a shared hallway, basement or meter cupboard rather than inside the flat. If a consumer unit is being replaced or a fault traced, we may need access to that position. Please check with the freeholder or managing agent before the visit.

Older boards and alterations

Conversions and extensions from different decades can leave circuits without RCD protection, or with wiring of mixed ages. An EICR shows what is there before you plan new work, and a consumer unit replacement is scoped from those findings. You can see a consumer unit we replaced in Kilburn in October 2026.

Renting out a Kilburn flat

In England, landlords must have the electrical installation inspected and tested at least every five years under the Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector Regulations 2020, and must give tenants a copy of the report. We explain any observations and quote remedial work separately.

Parking and access

Most Kilburn streets are in controlled parking zones run by Camden or Brent. Tell us about permit arrangements, entry codes or restricted access when you book. Nearby, we also cover Queen's Park, Maida Vale and St John's Wood.

Your questions

Booking an electrician in Kilburn

Do you work in Kilburn often?

Yes. Kilburn is about a mile from our W9 base, and since 2018 we have made more than 50 visits in Kilburn, Kilburn Park and Brondesbury, from Kilburn High Road and Kilburn Park Road to Torbay Road, Cambridge Road and Maygrove Road.

How much does an electrician cost in Kilburn?

Labour for scheduled weekday daytime visits is £90 + VAT per hour, charged in half-hour blocks. A domestic EICR is £200 + VAT and a commercial EICR is £300 + VAT. Materials and any remedial work are agreed before we start.

I am a landlord. Can you do the EICR and the remedial work?

Yes. Many of our Kilburn jobs are landlord EICRs followed by remedial work, such as replacing the consumer unit, fitting RCBOs or correcting missing earth conductors. We quote remedials separately after you have seen the report.

Do I need a new consumer unit?

Not always. An EICR shows whether the existing board and circuits can stay. Where a replacement is needed, as in our Kilburn project, we scope it from the inspection findings.

Do you offer emergency electrician call-outs in Kilburn?

Yes, 24/7. We have attended evening call-outs in Kilburn for tripping circuits and a cable drilled through in a wall. Call 07508 525912 any time and we will confirm the hourly rate before attending. See our 24/7 emergency electrician page for what to do while you wait.

Do you install air conditioning?

No. AC Kinetic is an electrical contractor and does not install or service air conditioning.

How do I book?

Book online at book.ac-kinetic.com, call 07508 525912, or send a quote request with your NW6 postcode. We come to your property; there is no walk-in office.
